Description
The Acerra family had sixteen children. It was the 1930's and many families had lots of kids. But only one had enough to field a baseball team. They loved the game, but more important, they cared for and supported each other and stayed together as a team.

Of the Acerra family’s sixteen children, twelve of them were boys who loved baseball. Brothers At Bat tells the amazing, true story of an all-brother baseball team. Playing through the 30s, 40s, and 50s, the Acerra’s made history as the longest-playing all-brother baseball team of all time! Through the good times (winning the league championship four times!) and the bad times (the team’s disbanding to serve in World War II), the Acerras remained a supportive, loving family. The rendering of the Acerra’s strong family stands out in the story perhaps more than the feat of having an all-brother baseball team. The retro-style illustrations compliment the story and evoke feelings of “the good ole’ days.” The last page includes an author and illustrator note with a photograph of the team. This charming piece of Americana should be shared with fans young and old.
