Description Rex Dexter is itching to have a dog. Any dog is preferable, but a chocolate labrador is the D-R-E-A-M. Unfortunately, according to the powers that be, a.k.a. his parents, he still has to earn his stripes after the unfortunate goldfish incident. It wasn't his fault, after all he wasn't the one that flushed the toilet. Everything changes on the eve of his birthday when Rex gets the best surprise ever . . . a box . . . with holes in it . . . and cute scratchy noises coming from inside! It has to be a . . . chicken?! One hour and fourteen minutes later, the chicken is steamrolled, Rex is cursed, and dead pets start appearing before his very eyes-even in his very room! When the dead animals hound him for help to solve their murders, Rex has no other choice but to solve the mysteries. The race is on before another creature drops dead, his parents catch on, or even worse-the Grim Reaper delivers on his curse.
